The short answer is, yes. There are many organizations offering Class 1 MELT funding in BC. Each of these organizations have requirements that need to be met by the candidate. Here are some of the top funding options for MELT:

WorkBC Centre Services helps unemployed people into sustainable employment. WorkBC works with candidates on an individual basis to determine an effective plan to meet their objectives. This includes assistance with skills training, which can include support for tuition. There is a $7,500 tuition maximum which applies to all occupations and sectors. This funding may be available as a contribution toward the costs of training with individuals contributing to total training costs or seeking other available funding sources.

BC Employer Training Grant

If you're an employer looking to train drivers, the BC Employer Training Grant provides funding to small, medium and large enterprises to support skills training for their workforces, including prospective new hires. The intent of this program is to help British Columbians access the skills training required to adapt to the labour market’s changing job requirements, while also encouraging employer involvement in skills training. The Employer Training Grant helps employers pay for training, which in turn helps employees experience increased job security or move into better jobs. Employers can apply as often as they need and receive 80 per cent of the cost of training up to $10,000 per employee, with a maximum annual amount per employer of $300,000.
