Understanding the Risks in Teen Drivers

February 8, 2017

Our North Vancouver driving school is passionate about helping teens become safe and responsible drivers. Teens are at an increased risk of accidents if they are not properly educated about the rules of the road. Teens often drive around with their friends, posing a higher risk for making poor decisions. Our driving school North Vancouver has put together a list of risks, and suggestions for reducing these risks:

Fact: Driving with other young passengers increases your risk for being in a crash.

Reducing the risk: Obey the rules of the GLP program and do not drive more than 1 passenger while holding a Class 7 license.

Fact: Speeding leaves less time to react and crashes are more severe and fatal.

Reducing the risk: Always obey the speed limit, and ensure you lower your speed in extreme weather conditions.

Fact: Seat belts save lives, and many teens will always wear their seat belts.

Reducing the risk: As the driver, set a rule that you will not drive unless everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seat belt. This is for your safety, as well as theirs.

If you feel you or your child needs some extra practice in becoming a safe driver, please give us a call to start your driving lessons in North Vancouver. Please note, we also offer driving lessons in Burnaby, Port Coquitlam, Vancouver, West Vancouver, New Westminster, and Coquitlam.
